Code of Conduct

Welcome to your Seattle LGBT Community Center. People from many different LGBT communities share this environment. In order that it can be a safe and comfortable space for all members of the community, we have listed a few guidelines below. Enjoy your visit!

All visitors to the Center have the right to be treated with dignity and respect. All visitors to the
Center have the responsibility to treat others with dignity and respect.

The following activities are not allowed on Seattle LGBT Center Property:

  1. Physically or verbally threatening or harassing any person in any way, including staring and talking.
  2. Using sexually explicit language, obscene gestures, or racial, religious or ethnic slurs that are likely to upset or disturb the peace of staff, clients, volunteers or visitors.
  3. Engaging in sexual behavior on Center property.
  4. Defacing, damaging, or destroying property in any area belonging to the Center, its visitors or tenants.
  5. Possession, use, or sale of illegal drugs, weapons, or contraband.
  6. Possession or consumption of alcohol outside of a Center-sponsored event, with the exception of events in the Event Space. Alcohol consumption in any other part of the Center requires approval from the Administration of the Center.
  7. Eating or drinking in computer room spaces.
  8. Soliciting, for any purpose, including asking for money, contributions or donations unless such activity has been approved by the Administration of the Center.
  9. Assembling for the purpose of disturbing the public peace or committing any unlawful act in the Center.
  10. Fighting, annoying others through noisy or boisterous activities, or in any other way creating a disturbance which is disruptive or dangerous to others in the business activities of the Center.
  11. Running, skating, rollerblading, skateboarding, bicycling, or otherwise obstructing or interfering with the free flow of pedestrian traffic.
  12. Throwing, discarding, or depositing any paper, glass or other matter of any kind except in designated trash receptacles.
  13. Failing to be fully clothed or wearing apparel that is likely to provoke a disturbance or embroil other groups or the general public in open conflict.
  14. Bringing animals on to Center property, with the exception of animals in the company of, and trained to assist, physically challenged persons.
  15. Posting or distribution of non-Seattle LGBT flyers or notices without prior approval from the Administration of the Center.
  16. Use of camera equipment unless such activity has been approved by the Administration of the Center.
  17. Smoking.
  18. The Center is a scent-free environment.




The Seattle LGBT Community Center mission is to provide opportunities and tools for LGBT individuals, organizations and communities that ensure their voices can be heard, included and affirmed; to be a place to engage, organize and effect change.
