American Heritage is an ongoing series of lectures and discussions that offer new perspectives on the role of African-Americans in American History. This second installment continues to explore the history of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgendered and Queer (LGBTQ) African-Americans but specifically focusing on transgender history. Gender identity beyond just Male or Female and transgenderism is not new in the African-American community.
