February 2006

the work of
Chris Rollins

 Artist's Reception
Tuesday, February 2nd
6-9 pm

Chris Rollins grew up in Denver, and has lived in Seattle since 1990. He graduated from the Colorado Institute of Art in Graphic Design. Chris' printmaking style is mainly driven by design, but is influenced by many things. They include Japanese prints, the German Expressionist movement, WPA artists, Mexican street art, iconic imagery and propaganda art.

Chris' latest work is about permanence and documentation. This is shown through both printmaking and the art of tattooing. "The people that I have done portraits of, are people that I know."  Chris says, "I made it a point not to ask too much about the tattoos. I feel that even though they are very expressive, they are very personal as well. I want the prints to show that."

The show is a series of small multicolored linoleum prints, as well as larger woodcut prints.

Chris has shown his work at COCA, Martin Zambito gallery, Seattle Erotic Art Festival, and the Seattle Art Museum.
