transgender and queer people who are interested in becoming parents. All are welcome. We
share stories and information about pregnancy planning, adoption, fostering and (maybe)
babies.

We meet monthly in Seattle and also have a listserve to share ideas, support, and success
stories.

Our Objective
Our objective is to provide immediate and confidential assistance, including information and linkage to community resources, for people in emotional distress and in need of help.

Our Programs & Services
Crisis Clinic offers a comprehensive array of telephone and support services that are available to every community member in King County. We can communicate with callers in 155 languages through the interpretation assistance of the Teleinterpreter service and with persons with hearing impairments through our TDD.

Each year we handle over 170,000 calls for help.

Crisis Clinic is deemed by King County as one of the key agencies to contact in times of disaster and to assist in defusing major crises. We also serve as a key entry point into the County mental health system. All phone workers have immediate access to our computerized database of more than 13,000 health and human service providers in the region. We help our callers navigate the complex and confusing world of the social service system, and provide advocacy and follow-up for callers who have difficulty accessing services on their own.

In Washington State, POCAAN brings people of color together across differences of race, gender, class and sexual orientation to achieve its mission.

We are committed to develop, implement and promote comprehensive multicultural HIV/AIDS prevention models that are effective and responsive to the evolving needs of communities of color.

POCAAN seeks to remove the barriers created by sexism, racism and homophobia, which limit our abilities to access health care services and educational risk reduction messages concerning AIDS.

Multifaith Works builds a community of compassion by mobilizing volunteers from many spiritual and cultural backgrounds to provide practical and emotional support, and housing, for people living with
AIDS or other life-threatening illnesses. Through all its programs, Multifaith Works promotes understanding and acceptance of human diversity.

Multifaith Works Programs

Multifaith Works is a non-profit, non-denominational organization that provides housing and supportive services to people living with AIDS or other life-threatening illnesses, and community education
on issues of human diversity.

• Seattle Shanti offers one-to-one emotional support to people living with HIV/AIDS or other life-threatening illnesses by providing active, non-judgmental listening and a comforting, sustaining relationship.
• The AIDS CareTeam Program offers friendship and practical support to individuals and households living with AIDS.
• Multifaith Housing Program provides supportive low-income housing to people living with AIDS and MS.

Lifelong AIDS Alliance was formed in 2001 through the merger of
Chicken Soup Brigade and Northwest AIDS Foundation. We’ve come a long
way since our beginnings in 1983, when a soup can was passed around
Volunteer Park and collected the first $42 to help people living with
HIV/AIDS in our community.

Today, we are staffers, volunteers,
donors and community members from many different backgrounds. We are
united in our determination to make sure that we never forget that
HIV/AIDS still exists. We will be here until there is a cure.

Caring for People
Lifelong
does whatever it takes to improve the lives of people living with
HIV/AIDS. We provide health insurance so that people can get the care
they need. We cook and deliver healthy meals. We ensure that people
have a safe place to live. And our caring case managers help people
every step of the way.

Preventing New Infections
Until
there is a cure, preventing new AIDS infections is our best hope.
Lifelong distributes hundreds of thousands of condoms each year, along
with safer-sex messages aimed at stopping thousands of new infections.
We also counsel those at risk of spreading or acquiring HIV.

Advocating For Change
Decisions
made in Olympia and Washington, DC have a profound effect upon people
living with HIV/AIDS here in Seattle/King County. We represent those
living with HIV/AIDS and ensure that our voices are heard at the local,
state and federal levels.

Creating Community
Lifelong builds a strong network of support for our programs and services. Events, like our annual AIDS Walk and monthly Gay Bingo, raise both awareness and financial support for people living with HIV/AIDS in Seattle/King County.

Bailey-Boushay House is America's first skilled nursing facility that was planned, funded, built and staffed to meet the needs of people living with AIDS. Every effort has gone into making Bailey-Boushay a place of profound respect and dignity for the people we serve. The structure itself reflects that commitment. But even more so, you'll find it in the attitudes and commitment of our staff.

The
range of services offered here is broad. Two programs—Adult Day Health Care and Residential Care—are designed to meet the many needs of our residents and clients: medical, physical, mental and emotional.

Located in the Madison Valley community of Seattle, Washington, Bailey-Boushay House is operated by Virginia Mason Medical Center—a leading health care provider. Those who come by Bailey-Boushay House receive the highest quality, value and care available.

Bailey-Boushay House strives to meet the physical, emotional and spirtual needs of people living with a changing AIDS. We are able to address the needs of the complete individual and still provide the most cost-effective care available.

Seattle Counseling Service was founded in 1969 and is the first and oldest community mental health agency for lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, and transgender persons in the United States.

The counseling service started as part of the Dorian Society in Seattle, later expanding to become an independent organization. It began in a rented house, with a telephone and several volunteers, who were ready to answer the phone, talk with people who dropped by, and offer counsel and support.

SCS was licensed as a mental health center and has provided services to our community since 1974. Among the programs pioneered by SCS, the Domestic Violence Program (started in 1982) provides intervention to persons who perpetrate violence in same-sex relationships.

Country Doctor Community Clinic was founded in 1971 by a group of community activists that recognized the need for medical care services in their neighborhood. Originally operating from an abandoned Firestation in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle, Country Doctor was an all-volunteer free clinic offering services only in the evenings. As the community's reliance on the clinic's services grew, Country Doctor evolved into a respected primary care provider that today operates from two sites and offers a full range of health care services.

In 1988 Country Doctor Community Clinic and Carolyn Downs Family Medical Center merged and became one organization. Since their founding, the clinics' primary goal has been to provide the highest quality comprehensive health care to their patients. From that goal comes our commitment to provide comprehensive care, combining outpatient and in-patient family practice primary care with community health care and preventive health education. It is in this way that the organization has been able to have a positive impact on the health of the communities it serves.

Our mission is to promote the health of gay and bisexual men and prevent HIV transmission by building community, fostering communication, and nurturing self-esteem.
